International holiday China The Feast of torches



Torch Festival is a traditional festival celebrated among some ethnic groups in southwestern China. The festival features lighting torches, gets its name usually always on the lunar calendar June or 24 or 25 days of the month with three days of celebration. the origin of the festival may have something to do with the worship of fire by our ancestors.
During the festival great torches tied with dry pine woods are erected in every village, with small torches in front of the door of every home. when night falls, torches are lit and people are as bright as day while people walk through the fields and houses, with small torches and placed in the corners of the field. within the villages, men and young women are singing and dancing around the large flares that are on all night.
Other activities such as songs and dances, horse racing, bull fighting, shooting the arrow, wrestling, etc, are also held during the festival. And there are shows going on. In some areas various religious rituals are held to an oral crop.
